Last-Minute Trip Planning: What's Realistic?

Planning a trip on a time crunch? The last thing you need to stress about is researching destinations, making the best booking, and handling mid-trip details. No matter how you got into this situation, I’m here to help you get out of it and on your way to an amazing vacation planned just for you.

As a travel advisor, I’ve helped many clients who needed a trip on a tight schedule. Whether they were too busy to sit down and plan, overwhelmed by the travel planning process, or completely forgot about the trip, I have been able to lend a hand and turn their vacation from chaos into perfection.

Join me as I explore how people find themselves in this situation, tips to avoid it, and how I can help by taking over the heavy lifting of travel planning.

Is This You?

It’s a month before Thanksgiving, and you STILL haven’t figured out how your family is getting to your grandparents’ house across the country. You open your computer to search for a flight, and after a few minutes of scrolling through offers, you give up. Prices seem absurd; you can’t find a route without layovers, and you feel like calling your relatives with an excuse that someone got sick and you all can’t go.

Or you told your partner you planned a weekend getaway for the two of you, but it’s Wednesday, and you haven’t booked a hotel or dinner reservation. Work has been keeping you stressed enough, and in your panic, you settle for whatever appears at the top of the search results instead of a thoughtfully planned romantic escape.

If one of these situations sounds like you, I get it. Adding travel planning to your list of personal and professional responsibilities can feel like a burden. However, I have tips to help you handle the basics.

My Advice to You:

First, my biggest tip is to decide when you’re going. This is one of the first questions I ask my clients when planning their itineraries, and it is one of the easiest decisions to make once you know a trip is on the horizon. If you’re traveling for a holiday, consider when you have time off and for how long you want to be out of town. Birthdays, anniversaries, and other occasions may happen at any time of the year. Discuss the trip duration with your travel partner or group early so you can request time off from work.

Next, narrow down your choices. Your research into destinations, airlines, hotels, and restaurants can become a sprawling project if you don’t set limits for the scale of your trip. Limiting your options can help avoid disagreements and make it easier to find good deals without combing through offerings for extended periods of time. If you and your group need assistance finding the best accommodations for your trip, I can handle the research and booking processes for groups!

Finally, pick one major event for each day of your trip, and let the rest of the time be free for exploring. Rigid itineraries can put pressure on you and your group to get to everything on time. Flexibility gives you breathing room, both during the trip and while planning. And remember: you don’t have to hit everything on your first trip; you can always go back later!

What Is My Rush Travel Planning Service?

Now you may be thinking, “Sure, I’ll implement these ideas in the future, but what do I do about my trip right now?” Don’t worry, I have a solution just for you.

As an add-on to my regular services, I offer rush travel planning, depending on the current queue. I do all the heavy lifting on research and booking, expedite the process to fit your schedule, and create your itinerary as soon as possible.

To use the service, you select the Luxury Travel Planning service or Signature Itinerary from my website and pair it with the Rush Travel Planning Add-On. If any of the other Add-On services catch your eye, feel free to include them to make your trip more memorable in all the right ways.

What to Expect:

To accelerate the research and planning, I move your trip to the top of my list. I prioritize research, itinerary creation, and bookings over others in my queue, with a turnaround time of 48-72 hours.

How quickly I can discuss, plan, and book your trip depends on how much you have decided before our first call. Using the tips I mentioned earlier can help us have a productive conversation about your goals and preferences without causing too much stress. Additionally, some popular hotels or dinner spots may be booked out, so being flexible helps me put together your itinerary quickly.

The service has a set price for trips 30-45 days out on top of the regular planning fee. The final cost will be confirmed before any bookings are processed. To learn more, please visit the Add-On Rush Travel Planning page.
