Plan a Greek Getaway for Your Honeymoon This Fall
Congratulations! Whether you're preparing for the big day, enjoying the newlywed life, or looking for romantic travel advice, you will find that Greece is a great destination for spending quality time with your partner.
After the engagement, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and wedding celebrations end, the last thing you need is a honeymoon that adds more stress from researching where to stay, aligning schedules, and arranging bookings.
As a travel advisor, I have helped many couples embark on romantic vacations around the world. I know how important time with your loved ones is, and my goal is to make sure that your honeymoon is absolutely unforgettable.
Why Greece This Fall
The time of year when you visit Greece will directly influence how romantic and peaceful your vacation is. I strongly recommend a fall honeymoon in Greece to ensure the perfect atmosphere for a tranquil getaway with your partner.
September through mid-October will bring cooler temperatures to the Mediterranean region, leaving the days warm and nights much cooler. Fall in Greece means warm, sunny days and cooler evenings, without the peak-summer heat. This climate creates the perfect atmosphere for exploring the islands during the day and staying out late with your partner enjoying the nightlife.
Tourist numbers dwindle in fall, making this season even better for couples looking to spend quality time without crowds. More families, students, and workers head home from summer vacations, leaving fewer tourists and the locals to enjoy the cooler weather and harvest season. This leaves more room for you two to enjoy the scenery, spend days at a quieter beach, and savor wines from the fall harvest.
I highly recommend planning tours and experiences in your itinerary if you and your partner want to explore more of Greek culture. Whether you are passionate about history, food, wine, or all of them combined, we can work together to find the perfect activities for you both to enjoy on your trip.

Romantic Places in Greece
Most Greek itineraries automatically include Santorini, with its famous sunsets, iconic whitewashed buildings, charming blue-domed churches, and cliffside views. Here are two other romantic places to visit in Greece that offer unique experiences that you can enjoy with others or privately. If you can't choose just one honeymoon destination, I can coordinate a multi-step trip to ensure your honeymoon is as exciting as you've always dreamed.
Athens
For your stay in Athens, I recommend The Dolli, a highly luxurious hotel, or the Hotel Grande Bretagne, both in the heart of the city. I'll handle the booking for you so you can enjoy the splendor of Greece.
In Athens, you can savor the flavors of Greece through cooking lessons or a food walk in the Central Market. Booking a cooking class is a great way for you and your partner to learn more about Athens and the amazing food they prepare. I can arrange a private cooking or meze class depending on your plans for the day, so you both can get hands-on experience with native Mediterranean ingredients and cooking techniques.
If you and your partner are less interested in cooking and more interested in just enjoying the food and scenery, a guided food walk through the Central Market is one of the experiences I build into an Athens stay. Guided food walks unique immersion into the culinary trades of Greece taking you through different markets and restaurants, exploring how different ingredients are harvested, what methods are used to achieve their flavors, and how chefs and bakers transform them into delicious dishes for you to enjoy.
Mykonos
While the nightlife in Mykonos is some of the best in Greece, there are amazing hotels to return to when you decide to wind down for the night. Kalesma is my pick for couples who are looking for somewhere glamorous, but quiet and homey. It offers a more intimate kind of luxury that helps you rest after a day (and night) of exploring the island's food, culture, and nightlife.
Santa Marina is another recommendation of mine, especially if you and your partner are eager to visit the beach without leaving the property. The location contains a private beach and private pools shielded from strong winds. This space offers great views of the island and yachts sailing by, elevating the luxury of your stay there.
Speaking of beaches, Elia Beach is one of the longest on Mykonos and offers relaxation and refreshment for its visitors. It is LGBTQ+ friendly and has a relaxed atmosphere, made even more so by the slower fall season. Nearby eateries along the beach, local bars, and chair rentals complete a picturesque scene of beach tranquility. Just be mindful of when you plan to travel, as the beaches tend to close around mid-to-late October before the weather gets colder.
Before leaving Mykonos, you should make a stop at Little Venice, a waterfront neighborhood with a rich history built into its design. The architecture was influenced by a history of piracy and a marine-based economy, which is why some doors and windows open right onto the water. The windmills overlooking Little Venice are too iconic to miss, especially at sunset. If you and your partner are looking for somewhere peaceful to start your evening, Little Venice in Mykonos is the way to go.
How I Plan Honeymoons
To give you a taste of what planning your honeymoon with me looks like, here is the Maldives honeymoon I planned for my clients Sarah and James. This trip actually inspired my Maldives Honeymoon Itinerary because of how much Sarah and James enjoyed their experience.
To make their travel experience as picturesque as possible, I carefully considered every detail, ensuring that even their arrival from the airport was designed to be the most gorgeous introduction to their vacation.
I kept that dream-like feeling throughout their entire itinerary, planning exciting activities like a sunset dolphin cruise and a private beach dinner tailored to their tastes and need for relaxation. To make this honeymoon even more special, I added a surprise stargazing night on their private sundeck.
After their honeymoon ended, my client told me, "I cried when we arrived at the resort because it was exactly what I had pictured in my head but never knew how to put into words."
That is my ultimate goal when planning itineraries for my clients: learning about their dream trip and what they want to experience, and making a trip that brings all of those elements to life in one unique journey. For more information, feel free to read what my past clients have said about their itineraries and booking with me!
My Final Thoughts
For honeymooners, Greece is the ideal destination if you want a quiet, romantic atmosphere to explore and relax in with your partner. Autumn is one of the best times to experience Greece's beautiful scenery while escaping the busy tourist season, so now is the perfect time to start planning.
